At the end of the 17th century, the Flemish painter Sebastiaen van Aken (1648-1722) arrived to Spain. However, no news of his activity in the country were known until now. Thanks to the fact that he left his signature on one of his works, which had not been identified until know, his authorship of the altarpiece of Saint Cecilia in one of the chapels of the Trinitarias Descalzas Church in Madrid can now be attributed.
