Temistio, en Or. 1,7b, hace referencia a dos personajes llamados Glauco y Polidamante. Los estudiosos del discurso, aduciendo argumentos que no resultan en absoluto convincentes, los han identificado sistemáticamente con los homónimos homéricos, lo que no encaja ni apoya la idea que Temistio trata de defender en dicho pasaje, donde argumenta que la ira es un sentimiento peligroso, especialmente cu ando se produce en una persona poderosa. Nuestra propuesta, apoyada por los testimonios de diversos autores griegos, es que no se trata de dos guerreros homéricos, sino de Polidamante de Escotusa y Glauco de Caristo, dos famosos pugilistas.

Themistius, in Or. 1,7b, mentions two characters named Glaucus and Polydamas. The different translators of the discourse have systematically identified them with Homeric homonyms, by putting forward arguments that are not at all convincing. This identification does not agree with the idea that Themistius tries to defend in the text, where he argues that anger is a dangerous feeling, especially when it occurs in a powerful person.
