    La Biblioteca Virtual del Principado de Asturias se crea para difundir a través de la red y preservar digitalmente el riquísimo acervo bibliográfico que se conserva en las bibliotecas asturianas. Mediante la asignación de metada-tos se proporciona la máxima visibilidad a cada una de las obras digitalizadas, de manera que los investigadores e interesados pueden acceder a estos fondos a través de la red e incluso directamente a la obra u obras que deseen encontrar utilizando los buscadores y navegadores más conocidos.

    The Virtual Library of the Principality of Asturias has been created for the more effective dissemination, through the Internet, and the digital conservation of the extremely rich bibliographic heritage conserved in the libraries of Asturias. Through the allocation of metadata to the records, it will be possible to ensure the maximum visibility of each of the works scanned so that researchers and other interested parties can access these holdings over the Internet and the work(s) they wish to find directly by using the best-known search engines and browsers.

    The selected background for scanning documents focuses on interest for the knowledge and diffusion of Asturian bibliographic heritage.
