  • The article responds to an issue article on the rising mortality and morbidity of some white subpopulations in the U.S. Topics include the findings of the article "Rising Morbidity and Mortality in Midlife Among White Non-Hispanic Americans in the 21st Century" by A. Case and A. Deaton in volume 112, issue 49 of the journal "Proceedings of the National Academic of Science U.S.A."; increases in mortality due to suicide, accidental poisoning, liver disease, and chronic diseases; and the impact of income inequality, falling social capital, and political aspects of the public health issues.
