An editorial is presented which addresses the 70th anniversary of the Doctors' Trial at Nuremberg and the establishment of the Nuremberg Code which deals with human rights and dignity in medical research. Several other articles about voluntary informed consent provisions, medical experimentation ethics, and Nazi physicians, which appear in the same issue of the journal, are examined. The abuse of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay detention centers is assessed.
