  • The author reflects on the attitudes of American parents with regards to vaccinations of their children, and it mentions the article "Trends in Personal Belief Exemption Rates Among Alternative Private Schools: Waldorf, Montessori, and Holistic Kindergartens in California: 2000-2014" by J.M. Brennen and others which appears in the same issue of the journal. The efforts to prevent and eradicate diseases such as smallpox are examined, along with a vaccination analogy involving guardrails.
