  • A literary review of the poetry book Martial by Thomas Brown, an English satirist of the late seventeenth century is presented. It refers to an unevenness of rhythm and influence of an earlier satirist, Thomas Forde, in Brown's collected works. It highlights the strightforwardness in Martialian epigram and Brown's translation.
