    A diferència del que passa en relació amb els animals vius que poblen Europa, on el gros de la sistemàtica està enllestida de fa moltes dècades, en la paleontologia queda un percentatge important per fer de la tasca de classificació i descripció. Mancança que és especialment notable allà on la investigació en general pateix un endarreriment secular. La nòmina d'investigadors en invertebrats fòssils del país és molt curta. I caldria renovar l'esforç per completar el treball d'investigació de la rica fauna de la conca del Maestrat. Així, també es donaria continuïtat al treball, important però escàs, portat a terme en els dos segles passats, en gran mesura per paleontòlegs francesos. Tot i això, cal remarcar una dada positiva en el camp de l'equinologia. En el últims anys (2014-2017), s'han descrit 7 espècies noves d'equínids fòssils de la conca del Maestrat, mentre que entre el 1859 i el 2013 només se'n havien descrit 5. Aquest estudi s'inclou dins del marc d'un projecte general d’estudi de la fauna d'equinoïdeus del Cretaci Inferior de la conca del Maestrat i té com antecedents concrets diversos treballs sobre els neognatostòmats maestratencs. Resulta de gran interès perquè enregistra per primera vegada a les comarques de Castelló el gènere Phyllobrissus Cotteau, 1864. Es descriu una espècie nova: Phyllobrissus garciavivesi sp. nov. de l'Aptià inferior, dins la formació Margues del Forcall, corresponent al membre Margues de Morella la Vella, amb material procedent del municipi d'Onda (la Plana Baixa). El treball suposa la primera descripció que s'ha fet mai d'una espècie d'equínid a la subconca del Penyagolosa. També suposa el primer equínid descrit amb fòssils del terme municipal d'Onda, una ciutat que disposa de dos museus amb col·leccions paleontològiques, i on un d'ells, el del Molí de la Reixa, està especialitzat en equinoïdeus fòssils. Suposa una pas més, tot i que modest, en el projecte de completar el coneixement de la classe Echinoidea a la conca del Maestrat.

    Compared the to situation of living animals in Europe, where the majority of the work of classifying and describing them was finished many decades ago, in palaeontology there remains a significant percentage of the task to be completed. It is a gap that is most noticeable in research areas that have suffered from arrears going back many years. The list of fossil invertebrate researchers in this country is very short and we need to renew our efforts to complete the investigative work in to the rich fossil fauna of the Maestrat Basin. This would also give so.me continuity to the important (although scarce) work carried out over the !ast two centuries by mainly French palaeontologists. However, it is worth pointing out some positive news in the field of echinology. In the last few years (2014-2017), 7 new species of fossil echinoids in the Maestrat Basin have been described compared to only 5 between 1859-2013. This study is included within the framework of a mare general project to investigate the echinoid fauna of the Early Cretaceous of the Maestrat Basin and uses earlier specific and diverse works on neognathostomata in the Maestrat. It is of significant interest because it records the genus Phyllobrissus Cotteau, 1864 for the first tim e in the counties of Castelló. A new species is described: Phyllobrissus garciavivesi sp. nov. of the early Aptian, in the Margues del Forcall formation, corresponding to the Margues de Morella la Vella member with material from the municipality of Onda (la Plana Baixa). The work is assumed to be the first description ever of a species of echinoid in the Penyagolosa sub-basin. It also represents the first echinoid (described and with fossils) from the municipal district of Onda, a city with two museums with paleontological collections and one of them, Moli de la Reixa, which specialises in fossil Echinoidea. It is one more step, albeit a modest one, in the project to fully understand the class Echinoidea in the Maestrat Basin.
