    Las correrías vikingas escandinavas de los siglos IX al XI tuvieron una especial incidencia sobre el Occidente europeo. La Iglesia, una institución de carácter sagrado y transregional, pilar de la sociedad altomedieval, sufrió las razias con particular rigor y conmoción. En estas páginas se analiza, de manera comparativa, la visión teológica que adquirieron los ataques de los paganos normandos, así como las distintas reacciones intelectuales, materiales y militares del clero ante dicha agresión en los ámbitos anglosajón, franco e hispánico, prestando una singular atención a este último.

    The Viking raids of the 9th – 11th centuries had a significant impact on Western Europe. The Church –a sacred and trans-regional institution–, one of the pillars of High Medieval society, suffered the blunt of the pillaging with shock. These pages offer a comparative analysis of the theological view of the pagan aggression, as well as of the diverse intellectual, material and military reactions of the clergy in the Anglo-Saxon, Frankish and Hispanic contexts, paying special attention to the latter.
