  En este artículo se repasan las principales justificaciones de la educación física como asignatura del currículum escolar y se presentan las principales reconstrucciones que, según el autor, necesita la educación física para adaptarla a los tiempos que vivimos. El artículo finaliza con algunos retos a los que se enfrenta la asignatura y los profesionales.

  In this paper the main justifications of physical education as a subject of the school curriculum are reviewed and it is also presented the main reconstructions that, according to the author, physical education needs to update to the current times. The article ends with some challenges the school subject and teachers face nowadays.
