Resumen de La biblioteca hospitalaria como elemento económicamente rentable para la organización: la inversión retorna

  La biblioteca de hospital juega un papel vertebrador de la información necesaria para su actividad, no solo retrospectiva sino prospectivamente. La imagen tradicional del servicio puede dificultar esa valoración. El objetivo del trabajo es exponer las herramientas virtuales desarrolladas en la Biblioteca del Hospital Universitario de Fuenlabrada para ofrecer información actualizada y relevante como puesta en valor de este departamento en la organización (ROI = 276%). Las conclusiones alcanzadas son: la biblioteca puede (debe) asumir un papel proactivo en la organización hospitalaria, se configura como servicio de información que participa y aporta a la gestión del conocimiento hospitalario, rompiendo su imagen tradicional de “almacén de conocimiento”, el apoyo de la Dirección resulta fundamental para desarrollar ese rol, la existencia de bibliotecas y bibliotecarios/as en los hospitales es una oportunidad de desarrollo, la utilización de indicadores en la medida de la actividad facilita la inteligibilidad por parte de los gestores.

  The hospital library plays a unifying role of the necessary information for its activity, not only retrospectively but also prospectively. The traditional image of the service can make difficult that assessment. The aim of this study is to expose the virtual tools developed in the Library of Hospital Universitario de Fuenlabrada in order to offer updated and relevant information as enhancement of this Department in the Organization (ROI = 276%). The conclusions reached are:  the library can (must) assume a proactive role in the hospital organization; it is configured as an information service that participates and contributes to the management of the hospital knowledge, breaking its traditional image of “knowledge store”; the support of the Directorate is essential to develop that role; the existence of libraries and librarians in the hospitals is an opportunity of development; the use of indicators to measure the activity facilitates  the intelligibility for the managers.
