Entre el Barroco y la Ilustración: tres bibliotecas murcianas del Antiguo Régimen

    El artículo lleva a cabo un análisis de los fondos que conforman tres bibliotecas del Antiguo Régimen, utilizando como fuente de información fundamental tres inventarios post-mortem fechados en 1697, 1733 y 1790. Se trata de colecciones bibliográficas encadenadas -abuelo, hijo y nieto- pertenecientes a una familia del patriciado murciano, los Fontes Carrillo de Albornoz y sus descendientes. Dicha secuencia cronológica ha permitido observar la existencia de la “biblioteca heredada” junto a la “biblioteca personal” e incluso la “biblioteca compartida” en el caso de la última de las colecciones. Frente al carácter barroco de las dos primeras, se encuentra la ilustrada colección del director de la Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Murcia, Antonio Fontes Ortega. El estudio de estas tres bibliotecas permite conocer los usos seguidos en la transmisión del patrimonio bibliográfico entre la nobleza, el grado de posesión de libros, la preparación intelectual producto de la educación recibida y el grado de penetración de la cultura imperante en estos representantes de la elite rectora del antiguo Reino a lo largo de un siglo.

    The article carries out an analysis of the collections belonging to three libraries of the Old Regime, using post-mortem three inventories dated in 1697, 1733 and 1790 as a main source of information. These are linked bibliographical collections - grandfather, son and grandson - belonging to a family of the Murcian patriciate, the Fontes Carrillo de Albornoz and their descendants. This chronological sequence has allowed to observe the existence of the "inherited library", the "personal library" and even the "shared library" in the case of the last of the collections. Facing the Baroque character of the first two, we can find the illustrated collection of the director of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country in Murcia, Antonio Fontes Ortega. The study of these three libraries makes possible to know the uses followed in the transmission of the bibliographic heritage among the nobility, the number of books owned, the intellectual preparation due to the education received, and the degree of penetration of the culture prevailing in these representatives of the ruling elite of the ancient Kingdom throughout a century.
