The AFE has held a monopoly on the representation of professional footballers until now, although union elections have not been held in the field of professional sports. And so, for example, in the field of praxis they have enjoyed an automatic negotiation legitimacy. The absence of unitary representatives of professional footballers, however, turns against their interests when arises another trade union organization that disputes the representation of the interests of footballers. It has happened recently in the field of football, with the creation of the footballers union ON - the first footballers unión alternative to the AFE -, because it deprives them of the precise tools to demonstrate their sufficient negotiation legitimacy. It is in this context that the present study analyzes how the collective rights of athletes remain after the creation of new unions.
