    Este artículo trata sobre las transformaciones que ha sufrido Mériadeck, un barrio del centro histórico de Bordeaux, especialmente aquellas mutaciones arquitectónicas ocurridas desde la década de 1960 y hasta finales del siglo XX, con el propósito de comprender sus efectos sobre el patrimonio local material e inmaterial. Al identificar las particularidades culturales de este distrito popular -aun vivas en la década de 1950, antes de su demolición-, y al reconocer la singularidad y la riqueza de su hábitat, este artículo hace énfasis en la ruptura provocada a partir de su renovación total. Más allá de los argumentos esgrimidos para justificar la destrucción de este distrito histórico, la historia nos revela una arquitectura del siglo XVIII similar a la de la mayoría de los barrios prestigiosos de Bordeaux, catalogados desde 2007 como patrimonio de la UNESCO; así como la existencia de una serie de prácticas culturales y de un folclore que despiertan en su conjunto el deseo de garantizar su conservación conmemorativa.

    This article deals with the transformations over time of a district of the historic center of ordeaux, Mériadeck. In particular, it attempts to describe the architectural upheavals that occurred during the 1960s and continued until the 1990s, as well as their effects on local heritage, both tangible and intangible. Identifying on the one hand the cultural singularities of this popular district, still perceptible in the 1950s before its demolition, on the other hand the peculiarities and the richness of its habitat, this article highlights the rupture caused by its total renovation. Beyond the reasons used to justify the destruction of this historic district, history reveals an 18th century architecture similar to that of many famous Bordeaux neighborhoods, classified since 2007 as UNESCO heritage, as well as cultural practices. and a folklore arousing attempts at memorial preservation.

    Cet article traite des transformations qu’a connues au fil du temps un quartier du centre historique de Bordeaux, Mériadeck. En particulier il s’attache à en décrire les bouleversements architecturaux survenus au cours des années 1960 et se poursuivant jusque dans les années 1990, ainsi que leurs effets sur le patrimoine local, tant matériel qu’immatériel. Identifiant d’une part les singularités culturelles de ce quartier populaire, encore perceptibles dans les années 1950 avant sa démolition, d’autre part les particularités et la richesse de son habitat, cet article met en évidence la rupture provoquée par sa rénovation totale. Au-delà des motifs utilisés pour justifier la destruction de ce quartier historique, l’histoire révèle une architecture du 18e siècle analogue à celle de beaucoup de quartiers bordelais de renom, classés depuis 2007 au patrimoine de l’UNESCO, ainsi que des pratiques culturelles et un folklore suscitant des tentatives de conservation mémorielle.
