  • The article discusses efforts to slow aging in order to increase human life expectancy and longevity, including the use of the antidiabetic drug metformin and the anticancer drug rapamycin to prevent aging. The role that the enzyme mTOR (mechanistic target of rapamycin) plays in preventing the aging of cells is discussed.
