  • The article surveys scientific literature that disproves the therapeutic claims of acupuncture. Topics discussed include acupuncture's focus on the life force or qi that flows through the body along 20 distinct routes called meridians and efforts to revitalize the block meridian that causes illness due to the disruption of the life force. The contention that qi is not a biological entity and the lack of meaningful difference between acupuncture and sham treatments are mentioned.
