  • The article reports that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is planning to reintroduce DNA into the population of black-footed ferrets in a bid to improve their genetic variability and odds of long-term survival. Topics discussed include the captive breeding and intensive management performed on the bird population and the susceptibility of genetic near clones to hereditary health issues. The genomic sequencing performed by the Revive and Restore project of the Long Now Foundation is mentioned.
