The new routes and services provided by low cost carriers (LCC) enable the emergence of new tourist destinations in Europe as well as the development of new market segments that value the cheap and easy air accessibilities. One of the best examples is residential tourism that grew in recent years, mainly in tourism destinations in the south of Europe, like Algarve (Portugal), due to the great weather conditions, security and above all new and the growing rates of air accessibilities provided by LCC.
In this article, the focus is the Algarve, one of the tourism destinations where residential tourism grew in the last decade, mainly because of the new offer of routes and frequencies of LCC throughout the year, as well as the good climate, security and, above all, the quality and diversity of golf and other tourism facilities.
