Resumen de Sentidos y narrativas en torno al amor entre la juventud española heterosexual

Este trabajo se adentra en las narrativas amorosas de jóvenes españoles heterosexuales a partir del análisis del material empírico producido en 24 entrevistas en profundidad y 6 grupos de discusión. Se identifican las principales visiones sobre el amor entre esta juventud y se analiza qué narrativas, concepciones y metáforas están detrás de las mismas. La investigación realizada muestra que conviven significados muy dispares –incluso contrarios– en torno al amor. Por un lado, los y las jóvenes recurren a sentidos ligados al trabajo y al esfuerzo cuando hablan de su relación amorosa en el día a día, pero en otras ocasiones necesitan apelar a significados románticos para explicar aquello que han vivido. Un tercer tipo de sentidos contemporáneos más individualistas y reflexivos completa la amalgama de significados con los que estos jóvenes dialogan y negocian constantemente. Pero aunque se identifiquen estos tres repertorios, este estudio concluye que a pesar de la profunda contradicción presente en el referente romántico –combinar la intensidad del sentimiento con la estabilidad de la relación– y aunque a veces los jóvenes lo rechacen reflexivamente o inhiban su reconocimiento al acercarse a él desde estrategias como el humor o la ironía, es el modelo con más fuerza performativa porque ocupa el lugar central de sus sueños y anhelos, un hecho que conlleva tozudas paradojas y ambivalencias.

This study focuses on love narratives among heterosexual Spanish youth. The discursive analysis of 24 in-depth interviews and 6 focus groups allows me to identify the main notions of love circulating among Spanish youth and to analyze which narratives, concepts and metaphors are their building elements. The research shows that nowadays very different –even contradictory– meanings of "love" coexist. On the one hand, young people use expressions linked to work and effort when talking about their love relationships in the everyday, but sometimes they need to appeal to romantic meanings in order to explain their iced experiences. A third type of more modern, individualistic and reflexive senses, completes this amalgam of different meanings within which these young people constantly dialogue and negotiate. Beyond the identification and description of these three different "love codes", this study concludes that despite the contradiction present in the romantic model –It combines the intensity of feeling love with the stability of the relationship-and although sometimes young people reflexively reject it or inhibit its appreciation by approaching it with humor or irony, it is the more powerful (performative) model because it reigns at the core of their dreams and desires. A situation that entails paradoxes and ambivalences.
