  • Elizabeth Bell and Mark Harrison at the University of California in Los Angeles have analyxed more than 10,000 zircon crystals smaller than a millimeter in length. In one Hadean crystal they found tiny flecks of graphite, which must have been Incorporated when the crystal formed same 4.1 billion years ago. Two of these graphite flecks contained the Isotope of carbon known as carbon-12, a characteristic feature of organic origins
