Resumen de La evaluación de la asertividad como predictor de carga en cuidadores de enfermos de Alzheimer

  INTRODUCCIÓNEn los últimos años, la investigación sobre la carga psicológica que soportan los cuidadores de enfermos de Alzheimer se ha venido centrando en la búsqueda de predictores de esta variable. Se han encontrado relaciones de la carga con el apoyo social, las relaciones previas cuidador-paciente, las alteraciones conductuales del enfermo… En este trabajo se pretende determinar la influencia que la capacidad asertiva del cuidador tiene sobre su percepción de carga. METODOLOGÍAParticiparon 25 cuidadores-familiares de enfermos de Alzheimer con un deterioro de moderado a severo que fueron evaluados de asertividad. RESULTADOSSe ha encontrado que la carga correlaciona, sobre todo, con la probabilidad de realizar conductas asertivas, en el sentido de que a menor probabilidad de respuestas asertivas, mayor carga percibida. Además, la puntuación total del inventario referida a la probabilidad de respuesta explica por sí sola el 35,7% de la varianza de carga, mientras que las tres áreas que tienen mayor poder predictivo explican, en conjunto, el 46,7% de la varianza de carga. DISCUSIÓNSe ha encontrado así una nueva medida capaz de predecir la carga percibida por los cuidadores de EA.

  INTRODUCTION During the last years, the researchs about the psychological burden is carried by the caregivers of Alzheimer patients, has been focused on the searching of predictors from this variable. It has been found some relations between the burden and the social support, the previous patient and caregiver’s relations, the patient’s altered behaviour… In this study it is pretended to determine the influence that the caregivers’s assertive capacity has on his percepcion about the burden. METHODOLOGY Twenty-five caregivers who were relatives of patients with a moderate or severe cognitive deterioration participated They were evaluated in asertivity. RESULTS It has been found that the burden is correlated, over all, to the probability of carrying out assertive behaviours, that is, the less probability of assertive responses the more burden perceived. So, the total score of the inventory referred to the response probability explaines by itself the 35.7% of the burden variance, whereas three areas which has bigger predictive power explain, all of them, the 46.7% of the burden variance. DISCUSSION A new measure is found. Thus, it has been found a new measure able to predict the perceived burden by caregivers of Alzheimer patients.
