Hacia una bioeconomía en Extremadura

    El desarrollo de la bioeconomía en Extremadura supone una oportunidad de generación de actividad económica, empleo y puesta en valor de los conocimientos y recursos en investigación e innovación de la región. El desarrollo de nuevas actividades empresariales en los sectores tradicionales, su diversificación y la creación de una nueva arquitectura empresarial en base a los sectores de la bioeconomía fortalecerá, sin dudas, las capacidades empresariales. La retención de talento regional y la sostenibilidad del medio rural y de las ciudades podrán verse favorecidas por la generación de nuevos puestos de trabajo cualificados.

    A la par que impulsar el crecimiento socio-económico de la región, con el desarrollo en bioeconomía Extremadura asume y manifiesta su compromiso para concertar su modelo económico con los retos internacionales en la lucha contra el cambio climático y el desafío de alcanzar una alimentación saludable, nutritiva y sostenible para sus ciudadanos y el conjunto de la humanidad. En el marco de su «Estrategia de Economía Verde y Economía Circular», quiere desarrollar su propia «Estrategia de Bioeconomía», que recogiendo la singularidad social, territorial y estructural de la región, optimice su desarrollo agroalimentario, forestal, biotecnológico y energético en base a la generación de conocimiento de su sistema de ciencia, tecnología e innovación y su tejido productivo. Todo ello, con el fin ulterior de contribuir a su desarrollo socio-económico, revitalizar de forma activa su población y acometer con esperanza un futuro de una región que no precisa de transformación sostenible, puesto que en su desarrollo siempre lo ha sido.

    Bioeconomy development in Extremadura is an opportunity to generate economic activity and employment, adding value to the research and innovation knowledge and resources in the region. The development of new business activities in traditional sectors, their diversification, and the creation of a new business architecture based on the bioeconomy sectors will undoubtedly strengthen the capacity for entrepreneurship.

    The retention of regional talent and the sustainability of both the rural environment and cities will be favoured by the generation of new jobs for a qualified workforce.

    At the same time as promoting socioeconomic growth in the region, with the development of bioeconomy Extremadura accepts and expresses its commitment to establishing its economic model according to the international challenges in the fight against climate change and the challenge of achieving a healthy, nutritious, and sustainable diet not only for its citizens, but the whole of humanity. As part of its "Green Economy and Circular Economy Strategy", the region wants to develop its own "Bioeconomy Strategy", that by including the social, territorial, and structural uniqueness of the region, optimises the development of its food industry, forestry, biotechnology and energy sectors, based on generating knowledge in science, technology and innovation, and its productive fabric. This is all undertaken with the ultimate goal of contributing to its economic and social development, actively revitalising its population, and looking forward to the future in a region that does not need sustainable transformation, as its development has always been thus.
