  • The author presents a humorous commentary on the physics of race cars, focusing on research by students at the University of Leicester in England in the schools 2013 publication "Journal of Physics Special Topics" on the speed needed for a car to drive a long a vertical surface. Topics include the author's experience at the 1978 Indianapolis 500 race, the mass and speed calculations involved in the research, and sportswriter Dan Jenkins' book "You Gotta Play Hurt."
