  • The article discusses the development of an RNA-based treatment for individuals infected with the Ebola virus by Thomas W. Geisbert at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Ian Maclachlan at Tekmira Pharmaceuticals, and colleagues. Topics include symptoms of Ebola virus disease, the engineering of small interfering RNA (siRNA) to prevent the Ebola virus from making a protein it needs to replicate itself, and the results of a clinical trial with Ebola-infected monkeys.
