    • The article discusses the resurgence of the bacterial illness pertussis, or whopping cough, in the U.S. as of February 2014, with a focus on concerns regarding the effectiveness of the acelluar pertussis (aP) vaccine used in the DTaP and TdaP childhood vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis. Details of a report published in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Scinces USA" by Todd Merkel of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding immunity of the illness are included.
