  • The article focuses on research into the velvet spider Stegodyphus lineatus, found in the Negev Desert in Israel, which practices matriphagy and mentions research published in "Journal of Arachnology" found the mother spider's tissues start to degrade before her young hatch, allowing her babies to more easily feed on her.
