  • The article focuses on the use of deadly force by police against minority citizens and the psychological aspects behind this phenomena. It states that neuroscientist Jaak Pankseep has found neurological circuitry, the rage circuit, comprised of the periaqueductal gray, the hypothalamus, and the amygdala which when stimulated results in uncontrollable anger. It mentions the cerebral cortex modules this rage circuit and talks about circumstances when the rage circuit overrides the cortex.
