This essay aims to examine the recent Italian reform of the "third sector" legislation from the perspective of the religious entities. In the first part the change in the terminology and its effects will be analyzed. Following a focus on the issue of the so called "ETS Unit", practical problems and requirements will be dealt with, keeping a focus on constitutional challenges and issues related to what appears to be a substantial change of the special legislation drawn in the mid Eighties
