  • The article discusses end-of-life care in the U.S. It references a report by the Institute of Medicine titled "Dying in America," which suggest that most Americans have never discussed end-of-life care with physicians or family members. The authors call for the training of health care professionals in hospice and palliative care and the inclusion of such topics on board-certification examinations. Medical technology and funding for end-of-life care are also discussed.
