  • The article focuses on how deep brain stimulation using implanted electrodes may be a viable treatment for major depression, as well as mood disorders such as manic depression, bipolar disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Information is provided on brain mapping of neural circuitry linked to depression, electrotherapeutic treatment for major depressive disorders, and the side effects of electroconvulsive therapy.
