  • The article discusses research published in the December 2014 issue of "American Naturalist" by scientist John Paul Cunningham and team on insect warfare and aggression in the Australian stingless bee Tetragonula carbonaria. They found that T. carbonaria colonies attack and seize the hives of their own species, as well as those from the species Tetragonula hockingsi. Researcher James Hereward found that the new queen installed in a hive after an attack was likely the daughter of the attacking colonies queen.
