The article discusses the efforts of sociomicrobiologists to combat antibiotic resistance among illness causing bacteria. Topics include scientists' attempts at blocking communication and collective behavior among communities of bacteria to prevent bacterial infection and sociomicrobiologist Rolf Kümmerli's research on the social evolution of bacteria during which he discovered that Pseudomonas bacteria recycle siderophores to gain iron needed to grow.
