  • The author focuses on how drought and government abuse contribute to the social violence in Syria based on the perspective of many farmers who escaped the country. Among the Syrian farmers who offered their views include Kemal Ali, Mustafa Abdul Hamid, and Louy al-Sharani. Topics discussed include the water crisis in the country, its negative effect to farming, and public official corruption.
