Resumen de Questionando o Complexo de Atlas: O Papel do Professor no Processo de Aprendizagem do Aluno Adulto em Língua Estrangeira

  O presente artigo analisa qual o papel desempenhado pelo professor de Língua Inglesa junto ao contexto de aquisição e aprendizagem do aluno adulto, através de uma revisão bibliográfica de teóricos que buscaram compreender tais aspectos de aprendizagem do aluno adulto. Como resultado, pôde-se perceber que, movidos por incertezas e inseguranças de seus alunos adultos, muitos professores tendem a assumir total responsabilidade durante o processo de ensino e aprendizagem, ou seja, o professor é o centro deste processo e tudo a ele está voltado. Tal comportamento revela-se prejudicial ao desenvolvimento da autonomia do aluno quando o mesmo necessitará usá-la “longe dos olhos do professor.” Concluiu-se dessa maneira que o aluno adulto, assim como qualquer outro aluno em processo de aprendizagem, necessita ser ativo em seu aprendizado, permitindo-se descobrir maneiras de como superar os obstáculos inerentes à aprendizagem de uma língua estrangeira.

  The current paper analyzes what is the role played by English Language teachers along the learning and acquisition process of an adult student through a bibliographical review of scholars that sought to comprehend such learning aspects of adult students. As a result, it was perceived that, driven by uncertainties and insecurities of their adult students, many teachers tend to take total responsibility during the learning and teaching process, that is, the teacher is the center and all are aimed at him. Such behavior reveals to be harmful to the student’s autonomy when the latest need to use it “far from the teacher’s eyes”. The paper concludes by perceiving that the adult students, just like any other student in a learning process, needs to be active in his learning, allowing them to discover ways to overpass obstacles inherent to foreign language learning.
