    El título de este trabajo se debe a la actual vigencia de esta institución que responde a una nueva conciencia social: la ecológica. Se aborda la importancia y necesidad de incluirla como estrategia de gestión en las empresas. Se analizan las bases teórico-conceptuales y jurídicas en que se sustenta la responsabilidad social empresarial medioambiental con un análisis particular del ordenamiento jurídico ecuatoriano. El objetivo general fue caracterizar los fundamentos teórico-conceptual y jurídico de la responsabilidad social empresarial medioambiental, así como los instrumentos de gestión ambiental. El trabajo se estructuró en tres partes. En la primera se obtiene una base teórica referencial que valida la investigación sobre la definición. En la segunda, se analiza su dimensión medioambiental y la de los instrumentos de gestión ambiental empresarial. En la tercera, se valora el comportamiento de la institución en Ecuador.

    The title of this paper exists because of the current validity of this institution that responds to a new social awareness: the Ecological. This paper deals with the importance and need for its inclusion as a strategy of management in the companies. It analyzes the theoretical–conceptual and legal base, in which environmental corporate social responsibility is strengthened, with a particular analysis of the Ecuadorian legal system. The overall objective was to characterize the theoretical-conceptual and legal foundations of the environmental social corporate responsibility, as well as the instruments of environmental management. This work was structured in three parts. In the first you get a referential theoretical basis that validates the investigation on the definition. In the second, it analyzes its environmental dimension and one of the instruments of corporate environmental management. In the third, it values the behavior of the institution in Ecuador.
