  • Resumen
    • The article principally seeks to identify the "Virgin Swooning during Christ's Entombment" in the Musée des Bearux-Arts, Strasbourg, as the ex voto Lorenzo Lotto painted in 1541 for the Ospedale dei Derelitti near the Basilica of Santi Giovanni e Paolo in Venice. This proposal is supported by a dual consideration: that of compositional types, especailly the central group of figures in the "Crucifixión" in Monte San Giusto and the "Entombment" in the Courtauld Gallery, London; and that of style, drawing parallels with Works from the early 1540s. The autor also offers a close Reading of the language used by Lotto in discribing the work and the information regarding how much it cost to produce. The identification of the canvas in Strasbourg with the painting of 1541 promts a reconsideration of Lotto's serial output during the 1540s, and his openness to the new stylistic developments which had begun to appear in Venice in the late 1530s with the presence of Tuscan artists such as Francesco Salviati. In conclusión, the article draws attention to specific stylistic features adopted by Lotto on the eve of his defenitive departure from Venice for the Marches.
