The article examines the work of the African-American sculptor Barbara Chase-Riboud. Particular focus is given to her series of bronze and fiber sculptures inspired by the human rights activist Malcolm X. The exhibition "Barbara Chase-Riboud: The Malcolm X Steles," to be held at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive through April 27, 2014 is also noted.
