  • The article discusses the 1565 painting "The Harvesters" by the Belgian painter Pieter Bruegel the Elder, tracing its provenance from Belgium to the collection of Holy Roman Emperor Rudolph II and the Hapsburg dynasty, to France, and then to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The author also discusses his own appreciation of the design of the painting as a young man.
