  • The article explores global instances of vandalism and censorship of artworks that reference religious symbols and iconography. Topics discussed include blasphemy laws in Russia, religious rhetoric within anti-immigrant nationalism in Europe, and alleged profanation of Islamic beliefs at the Venice Biennale. Artworks noted include "The Evil Empire" by Federico Solmi, "Piss Christ" by Andres Serrano, and "The Misadventures of the Romantic Cannibals" by Enrique Chagoya.
