The article examines the life and work of the American artist James Turrell. Particular focus is given to his exhibitions that took place in summer 2013, including "James Turrell: The Light Inside," at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in Houston, Texas, "James Turrell" at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City, and another exhibition at the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) in Los Angeles, California. Details relating to Turrell's artistic training and his use of light in his work are also discussed.
