Resumen de Efectividad de una intervención de acupuntura con vasos maravillosos en los sofocos durante el climaterio

  Objetivo Evaluar la efectividad de la acupuntura en los sofocos del climaterio con un tratamiento basado en vasos maravillosos.

  Diseño Estudio observacional, longitudinal, descriptivo de una serie de casos.

  Emplazamiento El estudio se llevó a cabo en el Centro de Atención Primaria Can Bou, Castelldefels.

  Participantes El estudio incluyó 9 mujeres de entre 47 y 56 años de edad y en el climaterio. Como criterio de inclusión se tuvo en cuenta que manifestaran un episodio de sofoco como mínimo en 15 días. Se excluyeron pacientes en tratamiento hormonal sustitutivo activo o en el último mes.

  Intervenciones Se realizó un tratamiento de acupuntura basado exclusivamente en vasos maravillosos. La recogida de datos se realizó entre los meses de abril y mayo de 2017 mediante un registro diario los 15 días previos al tratamiento, durante las 3 semanas que duró el tratamiento y los 15 días posteriores al último.

  Mediciones principales Las variables principales de estudio fueron: número de sofocos y su intensidad. Como variables secundarias se tuvieron en cuenta los posibles síntomas secundarios al climaterio.

  Resultados El 88,8% registró una mejoría significativa de los sofocos a partir del primer tratamiento. Un 33,3% presentó la resolución completa.

  Conclusiones Los resultados obtenidos evidencian la efectividad de la acupuntura en los sofocos del climaterio y justifica la necesidad de abrir nuevas líneas de investigación, con la posibilidad de incrementar el poder estadístico de los resultados.

  Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of acupuncture on hot flushes in menopause with treatment based of the miraculous vessels.

  Design An observational, longitudinal, descriptive study on a series of cases.

  Setting The study was conducted in the Can Bou Primary Care Centre, Castelldefels (Barcelona).

  Participants The series consisted of 9 women between 47 and 56 years of age in the menopause. As an inclusion criterion, they had have had one hot-flush episode at least in 15 days. Patients on active hormone replacement treatment or in the last month were excluded.

  Interventions An acupuncture treatment was performed based exclusively on the miraculous vessel. The data was collected between the months of April and May 2017 using a daily record of the 15 days prior to the treatment, for the 3 weeks that the treatment lasted, and for the 15 days after the last treatment.

  Main measurements The main variables were: number of hot flushes and their intensity. As secondary variables, any symptoms secondary to the menopause were taken into account.

  Results The large majority (88.8%) had recorded a significant improvement in the hot flushes from the first treatment. One-third (33.3%) of patients had a complete resolution.

  Conclusions The results obtained demonstrate the effectiveness of acupuncture in the hot flushes of menopause. They also justify the need to open new lines of research, with the possibility of increasing the statistical power of the results.
