    El Nuevo Estado franquista trató de eliminar desde sus inicios cualquier resto de la herencia republicana y liberal, que eran consideradas el germen de la decadencia española en el último siglo y medio de historia. Así, las autoridades del régimen llevaron a cabo la construcción simbólica de la dictadura, tratando de eliminar las huellas de dicho pasado y creando nuevos símbolos con los que debía verse identificada la sociedad española. En este artículo analizaremos los nombres de esas calles con origen en la dictadura que actualmente perviven en el espacio público vasco.

    From the beginning of the Franco regime, all efforts were made to eliminate any reminder of the Republican and liberal legacy, considered the seed of Spanish decadence in the previous century and a half of Spanish history. Authorities of the regime thus proceeded to construct the symbols of the dictatorship, trying to erase all traces of the liberal past and creating new symbols with which Spanish society were to be identified. In this article we analyze the names of those streets which origins are in the dictatorship and that currently survive in the Basque public space.
