The article reports on the results on the three-year Study of the Therapeutic Effects of Intercessory Prayer. Heart patients were prayed for by a group of 70 people, none of whom had any personal connection to the patients. There was no difference in survival rates between those who were prayed for and those who were not. A subgroup of people who knew they were being prayed for suffered a higher rate of postsurgical arrhythmia, possible due to stress.
