  • An editorial discusses advances in the field of biotechnology. "Bio fab" is allowing geneticists to create complete genetic circuits, a development that will revolutionize biotechnology much in the same way that integrated circuits revolutionized electronics. The biotechnology research community needs to address concerns about the safety of the innovations and educate people on the uses of biotechnology. Cooperation between researchers is also essential, so patents should not create barriers.
