  • The article reports that research is showing that nicotine can be used for anti-inflammatory purposes. Nicotine activates the body's own anti-inflammatory responses through acetylcholine. Research led by Luis Ulloa at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset (N.Y.) has found that nicotine can help ameliorate the effects of schizophrenia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, Tourette's syndrome and ulcerative colitis.
