    • The article discusses the teaching of biological evolution as part of U.S. science education in relation to common U.S. religious beliefs. Topics include the relation of science teaching approaches to the religious backgrounds of students, legal disputes in the U.S. regarding the teaching of evolution in relation to creationism and intelligent design, and teacher training workshops on teaching evolution held by the organization Teacher Institute for Evolutionary Science (TIES).
