  • The article discusses the combined study of gravitational waves that rippled through spacetime from the merger of two neutron stars glimpsed by the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. Thousands of scientists came together to pinpoint the source 130 million light-years away. The article discusses how detecting and studying such mergers could reveal more details about neutron stars and dark energy. This coordinated approach is called multimessenger astronomy.
