    En el presente ensayo se analiza el origen del colono en la industria azucarera de Puerto Rico durante el siglo XX. El propósito principal es demostrar, por medio de una revisión historiográfica, la manera en que distintos autores han estudiado al colono en la isla caribeña, señalando las aportaciones y limitaciones de estos investigadores en relación a este personaje histórico.

    The article analyses the beginning and origin of the colono in the Puerto Rican sugar industry during the twentieth century. The main purpose is to demonstrate by means of a historiographical review how the colono has been analysed and studied by different authors, identifying their contributions and the limitations in defining this historical figure.
