  • The article discusses a report by the National Research Council stating that the plan posited by the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) to ensure the safety of nanomaterials contains severe weaknesses. While the NNI does have a strategy for assessing the risks of these materials, including carbon nanotubes and silver particles, it has neither a summary of safety knowledge nor an adequate way to receive information from industry, academia and consumer advocates.
