The article discusses hollow capsules of organic conducting polymer that have the potential to eradicate bacteria. Microbes, which exert a negative charge, become adhered to filaments or thin sheets extruding from these positively charged capsules. Upon being exposed to light, these traps produce a form of reactive oxygen that is toxic to the bacteria. These particles were constructed by scientists at the University of Florida and the University of New Mexico.
